Leaders of Ganosamhati Andolan, a partner of 6-party alliance Ganatantra Mancha, on Wednesday said that the interim government had failed to reflect the spirits of the July uprising in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025–26 placed on Monday.
Ganosamhati orgainsed a press conference at the party’s Hatirpool central office to review the proposed budget where its executive coordinator Abul Hassan Rubel said that the proposed budget failed to reflect the spirit of July uprising and it was nothing but the continuation of the previous budgets.
Party’s chief coordinator Zonayed Saki calling on the interim government said that as there was no parliament at the moment, the government should sit with all the political parties and other stakeholders for holding discussions before finalising the budget.
The interim government could take more steps for the development of education and health sector, which they ignored, Zonayed Saki said.
Saki also called on the interim government to announce specific road map for holding the next general elections without which stability and economic development would not be achieved.
Abul Hassan Rubel said that the proposed budget lacked the indication of creating new job scopes for the youths.
He called on the political parties and other organisations to exert pressure on the government to compel them to take measures to ensure people’s welfare.
Farmer leader Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu demanded sufficient allocation for the agriculture sector.
Julhasnayeen Babu, a central leader of the party, moderated the press conference in which its other central leaders Monir Uddin Pappu, Bachchu Bhuiyan and Dipok Roy, among others, were present.
