
Independent University, Bangladesh has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Bangladesh on the IUB campus in Dhaka.
The MoU was facilitated by the department of accounting to establish course waiver opportunities for IUB accounting students pursuing the ACCA qualification, said a press release on Thursday.聽
IUB vice-chancellor Professor M Tamim and ACCA Bangladesh country manager Prawma Tapashi Khan, FCCA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Maqbool Kader Quraishi, head of the department of accounting, delivered the opening remarks and introduced the guests.
Professor Tamim emphasised the importance of academic and industry collaboration to support student outcomes.
Raisul Awal Mahmood, dean of IUB鈥檚 school of business and entrepreneurship, spoke on the long-term value of such institutional agreements.
Prawma Khan discussed the growing need for professional accountants in Bangladesh and acknowledged the collaboration.
This agreement follows prior MoUs signed with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh in 2019 and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh in 2024. With the inclusion of ACCA, IUB now holds formal agreements with all major professional accounting bodies in the country.
The programme concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation between IUB and ACCA Bangladesh.

ACCA Bangladesh was represented by Shah Waliul Manzoor, senior business development manager, and Syeda Sadia Afroze, customer operations, South Asia.
