Bangladesh University Grants Commission chairman Professor SMA Faiz has called on the country’s universities to take necessary initiatives to fulfil the needs and aspirations of the new generation in the changing reality.

‘University teachers should play their due role in developing a skilled and well-educated youth in line with the needs of future,’ he said this while speaking as chief guest at the 31st basic training certificate distribution ceremony of university teachers at the UGC auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday.


Professor Faiz also said that university teachers should be more humane towards students, adding that a distance had been created between teachers and students in different universities of the country.

‘To overcome this situation, the distance between teachers and students should be reduced,’ he mentioned.

UGC member Professor Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Professor Masuma Habib and Bangladesh Agricultural University vice-chancellor Professor AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan attended the ceremony as special guest.

Presided over by UGC secretary Md Fakhrul Islam, director of graduate training institute of Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Bentul Mawa delivered welcome address at the ceremony.

Twenty-five new teachers from 13 public universities of the country participated in the basic training, which was organised by the GTI with the financial support of the UGC.
