Rakibul Hasan claimed 7-64 to help the Bangladesh emerging men鈥檚 team take a 65-run lead in the first innings of their four-day match against their South African counterparts at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.
The hosts were, though, in an uncomfortable position, 5-2 after 3 overs in the second innings when bad light brought an early end to the third day, after bundling South Africa for 243 in the first innings.
Left-arm spinner Rakibul made the first breakthrough of the day by dismissing captain George Van Heerden for 63. That triggered a collapse鈥攚here they lost four wickets for 16 runs鈥攊nto the South African innings, who were eyeing a lead at the start of the day.
Andile Mogakane showed some resistance towards the back end of the innings with his 43 before becoming Rakibul鈥檚 sixth victim.
Rakibul got his seventh when the last batter, Tshepo Ntuli, was bowled.
Apart from Rakibul鈥檚 seven-wicket haul, Ripon Mondol took two for 58 runs.
Bangladesh then lost openers Ashikur Rahman鈥攚ho scored a hundred in the first innings鈥攁nd Chowdhury Rizwan inside the first three overs.
Aich Mollah and captain Shahadat Hossain remained unbeaten without scoring at the end of the day.
