The South Africa emerging men鈥檚 team made a comeback after a poor start against hosts Bangladesh on the second day of their first four-day match at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday.

Captain George Van Heerden (46 off 89) and Richard Seletswane (32 off 107) added an unbroken 82-run partnership to rescue the visitors and help them reach 149-3 in 53 overs, still trailing by 159 runs at the close.

Bangladesh failed to take control over the visitors, despite reducing them to 67-3 at one stage after Ripon Mondol (2-26) took two wickets and Rakibul Hasan (28-1) scalped one.

However, they remained wicketless in the entire third session.

Rakibul managed 16, and Shafiqul Islam chipped in 26 off 57 lower down the order to help Bangladesh go past the 300-mark.

Tiaan van Vuuren (3-47) took three, and Dian Forrester (2-31) and Tshepo Ntuli (2-81) each picked two wickets for South Africa.
