Ashikur Rahman scored a hundred as the Bangladesh emerging men鈥檚 team dominated the rain-curtailed opening day of their first four-day match against their South African counterparts at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.聽

Ashikur made 104 off 143 balls while opening the innings and hit 16 fours and a six as the home team finished the day one with 233-4 in 70 overs.聽


The right-hander added 69 runs in the opening partnership with Chowdhury Rizwan (12) after Bangladesh emerging chose to bat first.聽

Ashikur was run out after adding 60 and 30 runs with Aich Mollah (24) and Shahadat Hossain, respectively.聽

Bangladesh lost Ashikur and then Ariful Islam in quick succession, but Shahadat and Pritom Kumar steadied the ship.聽

Shahadat was batting on 42 runs while Pritom remained unbeaten on 31 runs when the stumps were called.聽

Tiaan Van Vuuren, Tshepo Ntuli and Andile Simelane each took one wicket for the visitors.聽

Earlier, the Bangladesh emerging team won the one-day series by 2-1 in 聽Rajshahi.
