
Young singer Humaira Eshika has won the special jury award in playback song category at the 4th Bangladesh Institute of Film and Arts 2025.
She received the award for songs in the musical film ‘Kajolrekha’, directed by Giasuddin Selim at a ceremony held at the Hall of Fame of the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday.
Emon Chowdhury was music director of the film while debutant Eshika performed seven songs for the film which was appreciated by the audiences and industry insiders, said the jurors at the event.
Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdous Ara, playwright-director Zinat Hakim and dancer Munmun Ahmed, among others, comprised the jury board.
‘Receiving an award for singing playback songs is truly amazing for me as debutants. I performed seven songs in this film which was the best recognition for me as a singer,’ said Humaira Eshika, adding that her recent song titled Moner Kinaray released on her YouTube channel also attracted contemporary music lovers which also grew her confidence.
‘I am working with my new three songs which will be released at the forthcoming Eid festival on my YouTube channel,’ said Eshika, who participated in a popular reality show titled Channel i Khude Ganraj 2016 and secured her position as a finalist.
Humaira Eshika began her professional music career through a duet titled Onek Bhalobashi with Mahtim Shakib, which was composed by Adib Kabir. Her first solo song titled Ovimani Chata, tuned and music arranged by Shovon Roy, was awarded in the Best Emerging Artiste category at the 18th edition of the Sunsilk-Channel i Music Awards 2023.
