A video of hacking a Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist at Central Road in Dhaka has gone viral on social media.

BNP activist Mohammad Saif Hossain Munna, 35, was hacked at about 11:20pm on Monday, said New Market Police station officer-in-charge AKM Mofizul Haque.


‘The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital. We are trying to detain the accused,’ the OC added.

The victim’s sister Jamila Kabir Laboni filed a complaint with the New Market Police Station on Monday against five named and 15 to 20 unnamed people, according to police.

The named accused are MC Shaon, Mamun, Rana, Shamim and Mubarak.

In the video, two men were seen standing at Central Road and three men in two motorbikes came to the spot.

One man standing with the BNP activist Saif held his hands and the pillion of a motorbike hacked him indiscriminately in presence of people.

None came to save the victim.

New Market police OC Mahfuzul Haque said that they recorded at an attempt to murder case on Tuesday.
