Public Works Department Sports Club has been promoted to the Bangladesh Premier League after their 3-0 win over Little Friends Club in the 15th round match of the Bangladesh Championship League at the Kings Arena practice ground on Monday.
PWD returns to the country鈥檚 top-tier competition for the first time in over three decades. They last competed in the football league in 1994, in the former Dhaka Premier Division League.
With 37 points from 15 matches, PWD now lead the second-tier BCL table by three points over Arambagh Krira Sangha (33 points) and 10 points above City Club (27 points).
This guaranteed PWD鈥檚 promotion because City Club would be unable to surpass PWD鈥檚 points, even if they won their final three games in the 10-team league.
The top two teams from the BCL will be promoted to the BPL, while the bottom two teams will be relegated to the third-tier league.
