
At least five people, including a Secondary School Certificate examinee, were killed in road accidents in Rangpur, Dhaka and Satkhira on Tuesday.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Rangpur reported that three members of a family including a SSC examinee were killed on the Rangpur-Kurigram road in Rangpur on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Rubina Begum, 32, her two-year-old son Rahmat Ali, and niece Afsna Begum Sneha, 15, a SSC examinee.
Kaunia police station officer-in-charge Abdul Latif Shah said that the accident occurred while Ashraful, along with his wife, son and niece was going to the SSC examination centre.
‘As they reached the Rangpur- Kurigram road at Zummar place near Mirbagh Bazaar, a speedy bus coming from the opposite direction ran over the motorbike  killing the three on the spot and left Ashraful critically injured,’ he said.
A case was filed by the victims’ family with the police station, he added.
In Dhaka, a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver, Dulal Mia, 40, was killed after being hit by a bus at Konabari of Jatrabari at about 9:00am, said Mohammad Rofikul Islam Bhuiyan, sub-inspector of the Jatrabari police station.
Dulal was heading towards Demra’s Konapara with a passenger when the bus coming from the opposite direction hit the rickshaw driver, leaving him dead on the spot and another injured, he added.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old boy named Mehedi Hasan Hridoy was killed as a trolley hit his motorcycle at Budhata Bazar under Assasuni upazila in Satkhira at about 10:00am on Tuesday, Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha reported.
Hridoy was seriously injured in the accident and was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said Shamsul Arefin, officer-in-charge of the Assasuni police station.
