Gono Odhikar Parishad has submitted a written petition to chief election commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, calling for the cancellation of the registration of the Awami League, Jatiya Party, and other members of the 14-party alliance.

In the petition, submitted on Monday to the Election Commission office in Agargaon, the party alleged that the AL-led alliance was involved in genocide, authoritarian rule and violations of human rights over the past 16 years.

It cited the recent decision by the interim government to restrict the Awami League’s activities under the Anti-Terrorism Act as justification.

The party accused the alliance of supporting three one-sided elections, undermining democracy, and compromising national sovereignty.

It urged the Election Commission to revoke the parties’ registrations and declare them banned, citing charges of genocide and treason.
