The Bangladesh Nationalist Party held an emergency meeting of its standing committee Saturday night to discuss the ongoing political situation.

Following the meeting, a member of the standing committee told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the government’s decision regarding the Awami League showed a partial alignment with the proposals the BNP placed during their meeting with the chief adviser on April 16.

‘We will make our official announcement on the decision on Sunday,’ the leader added.

The government on Saturday night decided to ban all activities of the Bangladesh Awami League and approved amendments to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, allowing for the prosecution of political parties and their affiliated organisations.
