Police on Friday arrested a leader of Swechchhasebak League, youth front of the Awami League, in a murder case at the residence of a Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader at Badalgachi upazila in Naogaon early Friday.

The arrested is Abdul Wahed Khan Titu, joint general secretary of Rajshahi city Swechchhasebak League. He also served as the personal assistant to the AL presidium member and Rajshahi City Corporation former mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.


Police also arrested Sagar Chowdhury, ward unit general secretary of Badalgachi Sadar Union BNP and vice-president of Naogaon district Motor Workers’ Union, for giving shelter to Titu, said Saiful Islam, an inspector of the Badalgachi police station.

He said that following information provided by the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, they arrested Titu at the house of Sagar Chowdhury at Chakrail Chowdhurypara village early Friday.

The police officer said that they also arrested Sagor Chowdhury under Section 152 of the The Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 on suspension of a cognisable offence and sent him to jail through a Naogaon court.

Mohammad Rakibul Hasan Ibne Rahman, the spokesperson for the RMP and additional deputy police commissioner, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Abdul Wahed Khan Titu was accused in two cases including a murder case filed for attacking a student-led procession on August 5.
