
American International University-Bangladesh has recently participated in the QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East 2025 in Kuwait.
Shania Mahia Abedin, AIUB board of trustees member, attended the event hosted by Gulf University of Science and Technology in April 20-22, said a press release on Monday.
With the theme titled Society 5.0: Higher Education and Skills for a Human-Centered Future, the summit offered an opportunity to drive innovation and build collaborations across the higher education landscape.
Through her participation, Shania Mahia brought attention to both the pressing challenges and the potential for growth in higher education in Bangladesh.
The opening session titled Setting the Scene was attended by Ashwin Fernandes, executive director AMESA, QS Quacquarelli Symonds; Jason Newman, chief commercial Officer, QS Quacquarelli Symonds; Nawaf Arhamah, chairman, Gulf University for Science and Technology; Bassam Alameddine, president, Gulf University for Science and Technology; Ghassan Aouad, chancellor, Abu Dhabi University; and Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, secretary-general, Association of Arab Universities.
The opening panel, State of the Region, explored the transformative shifts reshaping the Middle East鈥檚 educational and economic landscapes, with a focus on maintaining a human-centered approach amid rapid technological and industrial change.
Distinguished speakers of the panel included Ashwin Fernandes; Bassam Alameddine; Ebrahim Al Hajri, president, Khalifa University of Science and Technology; Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, president, University of Bahrain; Aisha Al Kharusi, deputy executive chairperson, Modern College of Business and Science, Oman; and Ahmed Bin Saleh Al-Yamani, president, Prince Sultan University.
Through this engagement, AIUB emphasised its commitment to innovation and collaboration within the evolving educational landscape, added the press release.
