Reiterating Election Commission’s commitment to organising a free, fair, neutral and peaceful election, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin said, ‘There is no possibility of taking place day’s vote at night.’

EC will not engage in any political disputes, he said, adding that every decision of the commission is taken based on the collective opinion of all its members, no decision is made unilaterally.


The CEC made the remarks at a view-exchange meeting with the election officials of Mymensingh region at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium today.  The meeting discussed updating of the voter list and the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election.

Regarding the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Ishraq Hossain, the CEC clarified to the journalists that the responsibility of administering the oath lies with the Ministry of the Local Government and the EC has no role in this matter.

Regional election officer Shahinur Islam Pramanik presided over the meeting.

All upazila election officers from Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Tangail and Kishoreganj districts participated in the event.
