A two-day workshop titled Flow Cytometry: From Basic to Advanced was held at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Dhaka, said a press release on Saturday.

Organised by the Young Haematologists of Bangladesh, Professor Ng Heng Joo, senior consult and head of haematology department, Singapore General Hospital, and Vijaya Rao, director, International Collaboration Office, SingHealth, attended the event.

On the concluding day of the workshop, certificates were awarded to the participating young haematologists from Bangladesh by Syed S Kaiser Kabir, CEO and managing director of Renata PLC.

He mentioned that the event, involving experts from Singapore General Hospital and young blood disorder specialists from Bangladesh, was undoubtedly an opportunity to foster strong relationships.

Renata PLC, as the scientific partner of this event, encouraged the development of young doctors’ skills in blood disorder research.

He pointed out that Bangladesh, with its large population, had only around 200 blood disorder specialists, which was far less than the country’s needs.

Renata PLC is establishing laboratories where doctors and researchers will work on diagnostic methods to prevent blood disorders and cancer, mentioned the press release.

Manirul Islam, scientific secretary, Bangladesh Haematology Society, stated that this workshop would help young doctors in Bangladesh gain more modern insights into blood disorder treatment.

Professor Dr Amin Lutful Kabir, president of the Haematology Society of Bangladesh, and Dr Md Adnan Hasan Masud, secretary general, along with young haematologists, were present in the event.
