A group of Jagannath University students on Sunday staged a demonstration on the campus demanding reform of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.

Expressing solidarity with Dhaka University students who have been staging a hunger strike demanding reform of the PSC and punishment for those involved in PSC question leaks, the JnU students held the rally.

At the rally, Sajjad Hossain Munna, a student of the Bangla department of the university, raised a seven-point demand.

The demands included raising the viva voce marks to 100 from the 45th BCS examinations, publishing the scores of preliminary, written, and viva stages; announcing a clear and specific road map for each BCS cycle and ensuring a transparent and harassment-free verification process to maintain neutrality in the recommendation procedure.

The other demands include guaranteeing employment for all candidates who pass the viva, establishing a commission within seven days to make application fees for private centres affordable, appointing impartial personnel to BCS viva boards, and taking strict action against the groups involved in question leaks.

Arman Hossain, a student of the journalism department, said, ‘If our demands are not met, our protest will continue.’

‘There is no doubt that the 46th BCS exam questions were leaked and those involved, both officials and students, must be brought to justice,’ Arman said, adding that the compromised examination must be cancelled and rescheduled.
