The Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Friday placed prime accused Meheraj Islam on a five-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Primeasia University student Jahidul Islam Parvez in the capital鈥檚 Banani area on April 19.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand petition in the case.
With this, four accused in the murder case were placed on remand while two other accused gave confessional statements before the court.
Earlier, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Meheraj at a location in Gaibandha on April 23.

Jahidul Islam Parvez, a third year student of the textile engineering department of Primeasia University, was an activist of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
On April 19, Jahidul was stabbed during a clash with a group of fellow students and outsiders on the university campus in the capital鈥檚 Banani area that left him seriously injured.
Later, he was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The victim鈥檚 cousin, Humayun Kabir, filed a case with the Banani police station on April 20, accusing 38 people, including two leaders of the Students Against Discrimination, of killing Jahidul.
