
Bangladesh will participate in the inaugural edition of the Wheelchair Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be held in Lahore and Faisalabad in Pakistan, from September 30 to October 9.Â
Bangladesh Wheelchair Cricket Association received the invitation from the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council on Friday to begin the new chapter of world cricket.Â
‘We accepted this prestigious invitation and began preparing to participate in the World Cup.
This is a proud moment for Bangladesh and the start of a new chapter in the history of wheelchair cricket,’ BWCA president Mohammad Mohasin told the media on Sunday.Â
To make the journey easier, Mohasin sought support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Bangladesh Cricket Board.Â
‘Till now, we don’t have any sponsors or financial partner...We are requesting the sports ministry and BCB to come forward. And, help us get the opportunity to represent the country in the international arena,’ said Mohasin, who is also founder and captain of BWC team.
A total of eight countries – Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, England, Kenya and UAE – will participate in the world event, which will be organised by the PWCA, an affiliated body of the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket. Â
Each of the participating team contingents is comprised of 21 members with 15 players, five officials and one umpire. Â
