A Dhaka court on Friday sent an expelled member of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee to jail over allegations of embezzling funds from the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.
The accused has been聽 identified as Dilshad Afrin who was expelled from the Fatulla thana unit of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee in Narayanganj on April 8 for breaching organisational discipline.
Ramna police station officer-in-charge Tarikul Islam told 抖阴精品 on Friday that Dilshad, who was a member of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, was sent to jail after a case was filed over embezzlement the same day.
Earlier at about 8:00pm on Thursday, members of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation nabbed Dilshad at the InterContinental, Dhaka and then called the Ramna police, the OC said.
Later, the police took her into their custody, he added.
The Jatiya Nagorik Committee is a platform of the youths who played a key role in the student-led July-August mass uprising that ousted the authoritarian Awami League regime on August 5, 2024.
The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation has been set to support the injured and families of those who were affected by the July uprising.
