
At least two people, including a 75-year-old man, died from electrocution at Madhabpur and Chunarughat upazilas in Habiganj early Tuesday.
The deceased are Abdur Rahman, 75, of Kalinagar village under Madhabpur upazila, and Muktar Miah, 26, son of Ayub Ali of Parajhar village at Chunarughat upazila in the district, police said.
Madhabpur police sub-inspector Nazmul Islam confirmed the death incident of Abdur Rahman to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.
He said that the victim went to collect firewood from a jungle near his house at around 7:00am.
‘He climbed a tree to cut its branches when inadvertently he came in contact with a live electrical wire and died on the spot,’ the police officer said.
Chunarughat police officer-in-charge Nur Alam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that Muktar died after being electrocuted in the morning as he came in contact with a live electrical wire while he also was cutting branches of a tree that were damaged by a storm in the previous night.
Officers of the both police stations told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the bodies were handed over to their families in the afternoon as there was no complaint over the deaths.
