Photojournalist Suvra Kanti Das won the World Press Photo Contest 2025 in the Singles category of the West, Central, and South Asia region of the contest.
A photojournalist of the Bangla daily Prothom Alo, Suvra Kanti Das鈥檚 photo titled The Canvas of Power won the award in the contest, said a press release on Thursday.
The photo shows people vandalising a statue of the founding president of the country Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on August 5 in the past year.
Suvra Kanti Das takes contemporary social and political events, covering conflict, political unrest, environmental disaster and social injustice.
After completing his bachelor of science in computer science, he enrolled at the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
