The Bangladesh Nationalist Party will organise ‘Swadhinata Concert’ in four divisional cities, including Dhaka, on April 11, with the aim of preserving local culture and preventing the influence of foreign cultural elements.

The announcement was made at a press conference on Thursday at Gulshan in the capital Dhaka.

Sabar Agye Bangladesh Foundation organised the press conference.

According to the organiser, the concert would take place simultaneously in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna and Bogura.

The event is scheduled to commence at 3:00pm and continue until 11:00pm.

In Dhaka, the concert will be held on Manik Mia Avenue in front of the National Parliament building, featuring performances by popular bands and artists, including James, Feedback and Shironamhin.

In Chattogram, the concert will take place at MA Aziz Stadium, while in Bogura, the possible venue is Altafunnesa playground or Government Azizul Haque College playground.

Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium has been finalised as the venue in Khulna.

Sabar Agye Bangladesh Foundation president and BNP joint secretary general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said that they were organising this event to safeguard Bangladesh’s music and cultural heritage.

‘Our aim is to showcase our own traditions to the younger generations,’ he said.

Annie said that they would take special measures to ensure that Indian and Pakistani songs do not dominate Bangladesh’s cultural landscape.

The foundation general secretary, Rakibul Islam Bakul, and treasurer Sultan Salauddin Tuku were also present in the press conference.
