The wife of Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Alifa Akhtar, died while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday.聽
Alifa Akhtar, 70, had been suffering from various health complications and breathed her last at around 6:00pm at the hospital, according to BNP media wing.聽
She is survived by widower, one son, two daughters, grandchildren, and a host of relatives.
Following the news of her passing away, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to the grieving family.
Mirza Fakhrul also visited the hospital immediately after he came across the news of the death.
Alifa Akhtar鈥檚 namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Banani DOHS Mosque after zuhr prayers today. She will be laid to rest beside her in-laws in Mirpur in the capital.
