BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology has recently hosted a two-day fashion exhibition titled Sculpted Elegance on its campus in Dhaka.

BUFT students of the bachelor of fashion studies, batch 222, showcased a blend of Bangladesh’s traditional textiles with contemporary and sustainable fashion at the exhibition concluded on Tuesday, said a press release on Wednesday.

The exhibition featured Jamdani, national minorities’ fabrics, handloom textiles and Gamcha, seamlessly integrated with modern themes like punk-inspired silhouettes, experimental draping, and tech-infused designs.

A highlight was the Gamcha-punk fusion, transforming rustic hand-woven fabric into bold, avant-garde statements. Students also utilised cyano dye, eco-friendly materials, and zero-waste techniques, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.

Beyond aesthetics, the collection addressed social themes such as mental health, addiction, body positivity, and environmental consciousness.

The showcase received praise from faculty for its fusion of heritage and innovation, pushing the boundaries of fashion as both an art form and a medium for social change.
