
Independent University, Bangladesh has recently organised a programme to honour Professor Niaz Zaman, recipient of the Ekushey Padak 2025, at the IUB auditorium in Dhaka.
The event brought together faculty members, students, and literary figures to celebrate her achievements, said a press release on Sunday.
Speakers at the event highlighted Prof. Zaman鈥檚 impact on literary studies, education, and creative writing.
Javed Hosein, a member of the IUB鈥檚 board of trustees, praised her role in mentoring students and academics. Professor Razia Sultana Khan, adviser to the department of English and modern languages, reflected on her influence in literature and intellectual growth.
Professor Ahmed Mostofa Kamal, author and faculty member of IUB鈥檚 department of physical sciences, described her recognition as long overdue.
IUB vice-chancellor Professor M Tamim acknowledged her legacy as a scholar, writer, translator and educator, emphasising her lasting contribution to literature and academia.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Professor Bokhtiar Ahmed, dean of the school of liberal arts and social sciences, reaffirming IUB鈥檚 dedication to excellence.
