Stocks has ended the week in positive territory as investors showed buying interest in particular large-cap scrips, especially the Bank stocks, as anticipation builds ahead of their year-end earnings and dividend declarations.

The market experienced positive momentum right from the start of this week, with renewed buying interest also observed in certain beaten down scrips as investors perceived them as lucrative after significant price reductions.


However, profit taking pressure emerged later in the week as investors opted to capitalize on the invigorated market activity and preferred to remain observant of the market鈥檚 momentum ahead of the Ramadan season.

DSEX, the broad index the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 46.9 points, or 0.9 per cent, to settle at 5,247 points.

Investors participation in the market continued to increase by 10.1pc to Tk聽5,181 million as against Tk聽4,703 million in the previous week.

Investors were mostly active in Textile sector (15.0pc), followed by Pharma sector (12.2pc) and Bank sector (11.8pc). Most of the sectors ended in green with Paper sector (13.2pc) being the highest gainer, while Life Insurance sector (-0.7pc) being the biggest loser.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending 135.40 points higher at 14,633.
