UCEP Bangladesh and MetLife Foundation have jointly launched Aponjon, a program aimed at training and certifying 1,000 caregivers in Bangladesh.

The recently taken initiative focuses on empowering underprivileged youth, women, and persons with disabilities by equipping them with professional caregiving skills, enhancing their employment opportunities both locally and internationally.

With the country鈥檚 average lifespan now at 73 years, the demand for skilled caregivers is rising. Caregivers play a crucial role in assisting individuals with short- or long-term needs due to age, illness, injury, or disability.

Participants in the Aponjon program will receive professional certification from the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) under the Government of Bangladesh, ensuring recognition in hospitals, institutions, and private care services worldwide.

Former UCEP Board of Governors chairperson Dr. Mohammad Alauddin highlighted the importance of expanding the caregiving sector to meet growing healthcare demands.

MetLife Bangladesh CEO Ala Ahmad emphasized the program鈥檚 social impact, stating that MetLife Foundation鈥檚 funding aims to support caregivers who provide essential services to thousands.
