A wood-cutter was trampled to death by a wild elephant in East Puichari area under Banshkhali upazia of Chattogram Friday morning.
The deceased is Abu Siddique, 45, from Bashira-Bari Ummul Quran Madrassah area in the upazila.
Police and local people said that Abu Siddique, a poor wood-cutter, went to the Puichari forest in the morning to collect wood. The victim died on the spot when a wild elephant attacked and crushed him.
Hearing the news, locals gathered at the scene and recovered the body.
Range officer of Jaldi Wildlife Sanctuary Anisuzzaman Sheikh confirmed the incident.
