
Special assistant to the chief adviser Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman at a programme at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on Thursday said that experts should be created keeping in mind national needs.
He made the remark at the Residency Induction Programme 2025 of the BSMMU at its Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Centre.
Attending the programme as chief guest, Sayedur Rahman said that along with acquiring knowledge in medical education and skills in medical services, the doctors should also acquire the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills within the existing facilities in any hospital and medical institution in the country.
鈥楴ew residents should uphold the ethics of the medical profession and should also give importance to eliminating patient dissatisfaction,鈥 he said, adding, 鈥榃e should spread the acquired knowledge for the welfare of the world.鈥
Presided over by the BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam, 1238 resident doctors participated in the oath-taking ceremony.
Shahinul Alam said that evidence-based treatment or evidence-based medicine was very important in the medical profession. 鈥楨vidence-based medicine activities should be advanced by going deep into knowledge through experience.鈥
Mentioning that the aspirations of the people should be fulfilled through higher medical education, he said, 鈥楾oday鈥檚 residents have an endless treasure trove of latent knowledge and science. By utilising this, it is possible for residents to achieve world-renowned awards like the Nobel prize in medicine through research.鈥
Conducted by BSMMU registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, the special guests of the programme were BSMMU pro-VC for administration Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-VC for research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar and proctor Dr Sheikh Farhad.
