
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority is going to introduce a project named ‘Employment Injury Scheme’ in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation to provide aid to the garment sector workers of Export Processing Zones, said a press release.
In this regard, a ‘letter of intent’ was signed among BEPZA, ILO and GIZ on Wednesday at the BEPZA executive office.
BEPZA executive chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, ILO country director Tuomo Poutiainen and EIS Pilot Project senior technical expert Anne Marie La Rosa were present.
A similar project, named ‘EIS-Pilot,’ was initiated in the garment sector in June 2022 and now this ‘letter of intent’ has been signed to extend the programme to the EPZs, the release said.
