Renowned Bengali singer and lyricist Pratul Mukhopadhyay passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata in India on Saturday.
He was 83.
According to media reports, Pratul鈥檚 daughter said that the singer had been suffering from various health complications since the beginning of the year.
Born in Barisal in British India on June 25, 1942, Pratul Mukhopadhyay, an unparalleled legacy in Bangla music, left for Kolkata after the partition of the Indian subcontinent.
Pratul Mukhopadhyay is best known for his soul-stirring compositions, including 鈥楢mi Banglar Gaan Gai鈥�, 鈥楧inga Bhasao Sagare鈥�, 鈥楢lu Becho鈥�, 鈥楥hhokra Chand鈥�, 鈥楾omar Ki Kono Tulana Hay鈥�, 鈥楽ei Meyeti鈥� and 鈥楩ebruarir Ekush Tarikh鈥�.
