A 12-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a train in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur on Monday night.
The deceased is Md Jamil, son of Shariful Islam from Banijugi village in Abdulpur area.
Abdul Mannan, in-charge of Chirirbandar railway police station, said Dhaka-bound Ekota Express hit Jamil at about 8:00pm while he was passing the rail tracks in Banijugi area.
The body was handed over to family without post-mortem examinations as per their wish, he added.
It was not known why the child was on the railway tracks at night.
