Theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad celebrated its 47th founding anniversary organising a programme at the National Theatre Hall auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.

To mark the day, the troupe staged the 19th show of its 33rd production titled Prerana, said a press release on Sunday. 


Written and directed by chief of the troupe, Sabil Reza Chowdhury, the play aims at raising awareness about autism, revolving around a child with special needs named Pori.

Pori lives with her parents. Her father Shanto is a banker and her mother Mayabati is a housewife. Pori suddenly discovers her passion for painting and participates in an international painting competition for children with special needs and the play moves forward.

Samiyaa Chowdhury, Sabil Reza Chowdhury, Sadia Bydum Maknoon, Mamun Abdullah, Doly Akter, Kamal Hossain, among others, have played different characters in the play.

Padatik Natya Sangsad began its journey on January 21, 1978 with the slogan ‘Let Drama Be the Tool of Life’s War, Let Drama Be the Revealed Truth of Life’.

The troupe has produced plays, including ‘Sojan Badiyar Ghat’, ‘Tin Rostomer Gappa’, ‘Manashar Pala’, ‘Maa’, ‘Chandrabati’, ‘Khetmajur Khaimuddin’, ‘Poramati’, ‘Jal Balika’, ‘Khyapa Paglar Pyanchal’, ‘Ajker Sangbad’ and ‘Bhulini Ekattar’.
