
Family members initially identified and claimed two bodies kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital mortuary since the student-led mass uprising that forced Sheikh Hasina to flee to India bringing an end to a 15-year fascist Awami League regime.
Ramu Das, the DMCH morgue in-charge, said that seven unidentified bodies related to the uprising were kept in the mortuary.
People who initially identified the bodies were directed to contact Shahbagh police for further procedures, said Ramu.
Among the unidentified bodies, one was initially identified as Hasan, 20, by his uncle Nure Alam on Sunday.
Alam recognised his nephew by his pyjamas and said that Hasan worked at an electric bulb shop at Kaptan Bazar.
On Saturday, another body was initially identified as Kabil Hossain, 50, a fish trader, by his wife Selina Begum.
Selina recognised the body by his clothing.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Farouk on Sunday said that DNA matching and legal procedures must be completed before handing over the bodies.
Earlier, newly formed July Uprising Cell by Students Against Discrimination on January 10 requested all to provide information on unidentified and unclaimed bodies kept at the DMCH.
