The conflict between him and the other board director, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, will be sorted soon and won鈥檛 happen again, said Bangladesh Cricket Board president Faruque Ahmed after Fahim accused him of misbehaving and taking the decisions without consulting others.
After the fall of the Awami government on August 5 last year the then BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon and several other board directors went into hiding. Faruque and Fahim came to the board as two new directors while Faruque became the new BCB president.聽
In a recent interview with two TV channels, Fahim said that Faruque misbehaved with him in front of other directors and officials from the ministry.聽
鈥楽uch a comment鈥� I don鈥檛 want to specify what that was,鈥� said Fahim in an interview with Jamuna TV.
鈥楤ut that comment has disappointed me and has made me understand that the board president might not have been taking me in his confidence.鈥櫬�
鈥業 don鈥檛 know why the president has commented about me. I was surprised, and naturally I didn鈥檛 expect such a comment. That too in front of many people, including from the ministry as well as from the board and outside,鈥� added the veteran cricket coach and analyst.聽
Fahim also said that the board would鈥檝e functioned properly if the standing committee would鈥檝e been sorted.聽
In a separate interview with Ekattor TV, Fahim mentioned that there has been some conflict between him and the board president about the position of the head of the cricket operations.聽
鈥楨ither one of us must be in an important department like cricket operations,鈥� said Fahim after being asked whether the conflict was true.
鈥業f the current board president wasn鈥檛 elected as the board president, I鈥檇 have recommended him for the position. As he鈥檚 now the board president, we don鈥檛 have any options left. And I think I鈥檓 capable of doing this job.鈥櫬�
Fahim also said that he conveyed his message in this regard to the advisor to the ministry of youth and sports.聽
聽鈥楢nd I鈥檝e told the ministry that, to tell you frankly, I told the advisor that if I didn鈥檛 get the job, I would be very hurt,鈥� he said.
鈥楾hen I will be thinking that we鈥檙e not doing the right job. That doesn鈥檛 mean I must鈥檝e got the job. But my mindset is simple: if I鈥檓 not happy, then I don鈥簍 do that job. That I鈥檝e shown before.鈥�
Faruque, also former national team captain, said that any matter can be solved by discussion.聽
鈥榃e have new directors on this board鈥攐ne in me, who is the board president, and there鈥檚 another [Fahim],鈥� Faruque told the reporters in Sylhet, where the second phase of the BPL is set to begin on Sunday.聽
鈥楾he thing is, from my playing days, I always think that any matter can be solved by discussion,鈥� said Faruque.
And if there鈥檚 any discontent鈥� You can see that not everyone is a best friend in a team. And if we can make this right, then everything is good.鈥櫬�
鈥楢s we both are new directors, we鈥檝e been trying to do maximum work by ourselves. In that case, maybe there was some communication gap in recent times. Because I鈥篸 have to make many decisions by myself rather than asking everyone every time. [I think] there were some communication gaps while taking some emergency decisions. I鈥檝e discussed it, and I hope it will be solved,鈥� added Faruque.聽
Faruque also reiterated the fact that any issues of such sort won鈥檛 be seen in the future.
鈥業f there鈥檚 no major issue, then we will be able to sort it out.鈥�
Fahim, who is also in Sylhet, however, didn鈥檛 want to share his thoughts about the issue with聽 the reporters.聽
