The University of Dhaka unit of Bangladesh Young Columnists Forum鈥檚 held an orientation programme for the freshers at the Teacher-Student Centre auditorium of the university on Wednesday.
DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as chief guest at the event, said a press release.
Dean of the faculty of arts Professor Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, the DU proctor Saifuddin Ahmed, acting chairman of peace and conflict studies department Muhammad Sajjad Hossain Siddiqui, fact check editor of France-based news agency Agence France-Press Kadruddin Shishir, president of Bangladesh Young Columnists Forum Amjad Hossain Hridoy and general secretary Imran Uddin spoke as special guests at the event, which was presided over by president of the forum鈥檚 DU unit Tahmina Akhter.
Chief adviser鈥檚 press secretary Shafiqul Alam was present as keynote speaker at the event, which was conducted by the forum鈥檚 DU general secretary Abdur Rahim.聽聽
Writers portray different images of society through writing. Through writing, the world of creative thinking expands and linguistic skills increase, said Niaz Ahmed Khan, expressing hope that such activities of students would play a helpful role in the development of education and research of the university.
He also mentioned that all cooperation would be provided by the DU for the publication of quality writing at the institutional level.
Earlier in the morning, treasurer of the university, Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, was present as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the selected writings of young writers titled Writing Exhibition at the TSC.
