University Of Liberal Arts Bangladesh on Tuesday withdrew the disciplinary probation against two students who were involved in drawing graffiti inside the ULAB campus during July Uprising amid protest.
The message from the ULAB’s vice-chancellor, Imran Rahman, published on their website on December 31.
‘We have received a letter of concern from some of our faculty members. Out of respect for them, and for the greater good of our students, we are withdrawing the disciplinary probation on the two students,’ said the message.
Earlier, 11 teachers of the university including the Centre for Advanced Theory director Salimullah Khan, visiting summer distinguished professor Azfar Hussain, Sumon Rahman and A F M Moniruzzaman Shipu gave a statement against the university decision against students.
They said that they were concerned about the university issuing disciplinary probation instead of discussing the matter with the students who were drawing graffiti inside the campus during the student-led mass uprising.
On December 29, the university issued notices to three students.
Of them, two were placed on disciplinary probation, while the other received a formal warning for drawing graffiti inside the campus.
