The National University chapter of the Student Movement Against Discrimination on Friday held a protest rally and brought out a protest procession demanding that the government take effective steps to stop secret killings.

They also urged the government to ensure punishment for those involved in setting fire to the secretariat to destroy important state documents of corruption through bureaucratic conspiracy.

Addressing the protest rally in front of the National Press Club, Dhaka State college student Sahinur Rahman Shamim said that they demanded the government launch fair investigation into the secret killings of July uprising protesters and continuous threats.

‘We urge the home ministry and the members of law enforcement agencies to identify the perpetrators of secret killings and threats on protesters,’ said Shahinur.

He urged the government to ensure security for all protesters in Dhaka as elsewhere across the country.

He also posed a question how the secretariat was set on fire amid high security.
