
After witnessing a downward trend in the last three sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, advanced by 15.1 points and settled at 5,184 points as against 5,169 points in the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, trading activities remained stagnant with market turnover in DSE marginally increasing by 2.3 per cent to Tk聽2.82 billion as against Tk聽2.76 billion in the previous session.
On the sectoral front, Pharma (23.7 per cent) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (11.8 per cent) and Engineering (11.3 per cent) sectors.
Most of the sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which financial institution (1.7 per cent), jute (1.3 per cent) and fuel and power (1.0 per cent) exhibited the most gains on the bourse today, while Paper (-0.9 per cent), IT (-0.5 per cent) and mutual fund (-0.3 per cent) exerted the most corrections.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 187 advanced, 128 declined and 82 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled on red terrain. The selected indices (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) lost 31.5 and 53.8 points, respectively.聽
