Md Arafat, a 12-year-old boy who was shot during the July-August student-led mass uprising, died at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Sunday night.

Arafat, who was shot in the ribs in Uttara-Azampur area on August 5, breathed his last at 10:30pm, according to the CMH officials.


Namaz-e-janaza of Arafat, a madrassah student, was held at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Monday, said Press Wing of the chief adviser to the interim-government Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Arafat鈥檚 brother Hasan Ali conducted the janaza, which was attended by information adviser Nahid Islam, special assistant for health and family welfare ministry professor Md Sayedur Rahman, chief adviser鈥檚 press secretary Shafiqul Alam, student leader Sarjis Alam and Arafat鈥檚 father Shahidul Islam.

On December 21, the Mass Uprising Special Cell, which was established under the health services division in October, published the first draft of 858 martyred and 11,551 injured in the student-people uprising that forced ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to flee to India, bringing an end to the 15-year fascist Awami League regime.聽聽聽聽
