The Young Women for Development Rights and Climate and the Bangladesh Child Rights Forum on Saturday jointly organised a discussion on child abuse, trafficking and child marriage in the capital Dhaka.

The discussion was chaired by Nusrat Sultana Afroj, executive chairperson of the Young Women for Development Rights and Climate.


She gave a speech on how children could protect themselves from trafficking, said a press release.

Shahabuddin Ahmed Dolon, executive chairperson of the Bright Future Inclusion and founding president of Sur Sudha Sangeetayan, was present as chief guest and delivered the keynote address.

Special guests included Afroja Parvin, executive member of the Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum and executive director of Nari Unnayan Shakti, and Abdul Momin, programme coordinator of Forum for Culture and Human Development.

A cultural programme was held after the discussion.

Guest artist Dolon participated in the event as a singer and anchored the cultural programme while children performed several patriotic songs.

The session focused on educating the children about how they could protect themselves from physical and sexual abuse, trafficking and child marriage.

Representatives from five Non-government organisations and 60 adolescents from the local area attended the event.
