
A seven-day Jatra festival is underway on the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation industrial estate in Barguna.
Organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the theme of reviving cultural practices in all social layers after the student-led July mass-uprising, seven Jatra troupes of the country are participating in the festival.
Adharer Musafir a production of Gram Bangla Opera was staged on Friday at the festival.
Written by Brajendra Kumar De, the production was directed by Chitta Ranjan Mistri.
The production depicts the nationalist movement against the British army during the British colony. 聽
Written by Shamsul Haque and directed by Monowar Khan, Adi Rupanjali Opera will stage social play Apan Dulal today.
The festival will also feature Gunaibibi by Payra Jatra Unit on Sunday and Ejid Bodh Jaynal Uddhar by Reba Opera on the closing day of the festival.
The festival was inaugurated with Shahi Talowar by Mahashakti Nattya Sangstha on December 17.
Besides, a seven-day Jatra festival is also underway in Khulna which will conclude on December 25. 聽
