
At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured in road accidents in Cumilla, Noakhali, Munshiganj and Sylhet between Saturday night and Sunday.  Â
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· Correspondent in Cumilla reported that three people were killed and seven others injured after a passenger bus of Hanif Paribahan, crashed into a road-side tree on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway of Gangra in Chauddagram on Sunday.
The deceased are Md Nasir Mia, 60, of Ramchandrapur village in Comilla, bus supervisor Shyamal, 55, of Ramnagar village in Brahmanpara upazil, the in-charge of Mia Bazar highway police outpost Mehedi Hasan said.
The identity of another deceased, who was the helper of the bus, however, could not be known. Â
An accidental death case was filed in this regard, the in-charge added.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Noakhali reported that a 17-year-old electrician was killed on Sunday morning when a cow-laden truck hit the motorcycle he was riding on the Dhaka-Ramganj Regional Road in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali.
The deceased, Jiharul Islam Rahul, is a resident of Dakkhin Dashgaria village of the upazila.
Chatkhil police station inspector for investigation said that the police seized the truck, but its driver managed to flee. Â
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Munshiganj reported that a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed and four passengers were injured when the vehicle lost control while attempting to save a fox and crashed into a tree at Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj.Â
The accident took place on Nimtala-Sirajdikhan road at around 9:30pm on Saturday.
Sirajdikhan police station officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman said that the CNG driver, whose identity could not be known, and the fox both died on the spot.
¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· Correspondent in Sylhet reported that at least two people were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet on Saturday night.
The deceased are Abdul Mukit, 40, of Bhabanipur village in Sunamganj, and Ruhul Amin, 26, of Islampur village in the same district. Â
Local residents said that a city-bound passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Lalabazar at the Dakshin Surma upazila at around 8:00pm.
Dakshin Surma police station officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman said that the victims’ bodies were handed over to their relatives on Sunday noon without post-mortem examination following an order issued by the local administration.Â
