
Melita Mehjabeen has joined BAT Bangladesh as its new independent director recently, said a press release.
The decision of her appointment was taken during the organisation’s board meeting held on November 12.
She is a tenured faculty member at IBA, Dhaka University.
She earned her PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, focusing on CSR reporting practices in Bangladesh.
She has also served as an independent director and chair of audit and NRC committees on multiple boards, including those of Unilever Consumer Care Limited and National Bank Limited.
Melita Mehjabeen said about her new responsibility, ‘I am always driven by a passion for continuous learning. While performing my role as an independent director, I will try my best, to collaborate effectively with my fellow board members, to make a positive impact and bring about meaningful changes in corporate practices leveraging my experience as an academic and an industry professional.’
