Law, justice and parliamentary affairs adviser Asif Nazrul on Sunday said that the government would request INTERPOL to issue red notices to arrest and bring back fugitives, including Sheikh Hasina, accused of involving in the killings and genocide committed during the student-led mass-uprising in July and August.

‘The step to issue the International Criminal Police Organisation red notice will be taken soon,’ he said while talking to reporters after inspecting renovation works of the International Crimes Tribunal building in Dhaka.

Replying to a question on an alleged petition filed at the International Criminal Court in the Hague against individuals, including chief adviser, Asif Nazrul said that the plea was filed to mislead the global opinion.

‘The government is not taking the Awami League’s complaint to the ICC into account. The Awami League has filed the complaint against the government to undermine the country’s dignity. There is no reason for the complaint to be accepted in any way,’ he added.

‘Moreover, this is not a case; it is just a written petition for the ICC prosecution office. Any person can do that.’

‘It is such an unbelievable and pointless complaint that there is no reason for it to be turned into a writ. The fascist quarter filed that to mislead the global opinion and confuse the country’s people,’ the adviser further said.

Chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam said that steps would be taken to bring Awami League to justice as a party if the government gave direction in this regard.
