At least two readymade garment workers were sustained bullet injuries as law enforcers opened fire on protesters at Mirpur 14.

The injured workers are Md Al-Amin, 18, and Jhuma Akter, 15, and they were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Faruk.

Vasantek police station officer-in-charge Faisal Ahmed said that police did not open any fire but the Army opened blank fire to disperse protesters.

‘I am not aware of anyone injured in the incident. Some police members were hurt as protesters threw brick and brick-chips,’ he said, adding that the situation was now under control.

A large number of Army and police were deployed in the area.
