
The Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday arrested three members of an organised gang of thieves at Bashundhara Shopping Complex in the capital city Dhaka.
The arrested are Md Noman, 20, Mobarak Ali, 24, residents of Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar, and Raj Sohel, 37, a resident of Brahmanbaria.
Special superintendent of CID Azad Rahman confirmed the matter in a press release on Wednesday.
The release said that the three were arrested in connection with the theft of valuable equipment from the Tarbia Academy studio in the Saat Masjid housing area of ​​Mohammadpur in the capital on October 12.
A group of thieves broke into the office studio of the academy’s chief executive, Syed Jihadul Islam, between 6:00am and 6:50am on October 12.
The CID in its release said that the group stole goods worth about TK 5, 87, 000, including a video camera and a camera lens.
Later, Jihadul filed a case with the Mohammadpur police station in this regard.
The CID said that they recovered a video camera, a camera lens, graphics tablet and various mobile devices from the three during their arrests.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested admitted their involvement in the theft, the CID release said, adding that CID’s investigation is ongoing to bring other members of the gang to justice.
