
South Asian platform Bhasha, in collaboration with Singa, organised a seminar in Paris on Saturday, focusing on the recent student-led mass uprising in Bangladesh.
The discussion highlighted the spontaneous resistance against government mismanagement, corruption, and rights violations, according to a press release.
Speakers addressed various facets of the uprising and its impact on reshaping the country鈥檚 political landscape.
They stressed the need for collective efforts to advance Bangladesh in light of the current challenges.
The seminar featured a range of speakers, including Comit茅 Fran莽ais de Soutien 脿 GK president Jean-Pierre B茅cue, Responsable P么le Entrepreneuriat official Emmanuelle Bourge, advocate Kazi Abdullah Al Mamun, freedom fighter Mohammad Burhan, cultural figure Arif Hasan Rumu, freedom fighter Nurul Hossain Chowdhury, journalist Shabul Ahmed, Pariser Zanala secretary Farzana Aktar, thinker Khaled Ur Rahman Sagar, activist Abdullah Al Riadh Siddiquee, and women鈥檚 leader Sultana Jesmin.
The speakers also emphasised the crucial role of Bangladeshi expatriates in the movement and the importance of addressing their demands.
The seminar, held at Singa Hall Room in Paris, was moderated by fashion designer and translator Abdullah Al Mehdi and featured a screening of the documentary Red July 2024, directed by Abu Zubier.
Singer Lubna Yasmin performed patriotic songs, and the seminar called for safeguarding the rights of expatriate Bangladeshis, improving embassy services, and implementing measures to protect and enhance their economic contributions to the country.
