
Forward Shamsunnahar Jr scored an injury time equaliser as defending champions Bangladesh earned a 1-1 draw against Pakistan in their three-team Group A match of the SAFF Women鈥檚 Championship 2024 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Sunday.
Pakistan went to break with a 1-0 lead, with forward Zahmena Samin Malik scoring in the 32nd minute.
When it seemed that Bangladesh were going to suffer their first ever defeat against Pakistan in this competition, Shamsunnahar headed home the ball from goalmouth following a Ritu Porna Chakma cross from the left in the very first minute of the six-minute stoppage time.聽
A win over Pakistan would have put Bangladesh directly into the semi-finals of the tournament, but with the draw, Peter Butler鈥檚 charges will now have to wait for the outcome of their Wednesday鈥檚 game against five-time champions India, who defeated Pakistan 5-2 in the first match, to confirm their last-four spot.
A total of seven teams split into two groups are competing in this tournament, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.聽
